Did you know that Hoverscape offers more than just aerial photography and video utilising its modern fleet of multi-rotor UAV drones.
Editing your aerial photograph out of the camera is an important task, as it can turn an impressive image into a showstopper. Just like the days of film, even digital photographs and video need some form of post production.
Unfortunately a camera sensor is limited in the amount of data it records compared to the human eye. For instance a professional DSLR camera sensor can only capture 8-10 levels of light intensity between white and black, while the human eye can capture 14. This is a reason for choosing to professionally edit your image to retrieve the visual aesthetics of what the eye would have seen.
When capturing an aerial photograph we record the image in a RAW format (unedited), which means that all of the light data recorded by the camera’s sensor is kept in the file, unlike a .jpg file which is compressed into a smaller size by deleting what the camera deems is unnecessary. This allows us more flexibility in post production to achieve a more realistic and dynamic image.
Some of our editing techniques include retrieving lost detail in the bright highlights and darker shadows. We can adjust for correct colour values determined by the temperature of the light, as well as bring out some of the washed out colours when the image was captured. Adjusting contrast levels between light and dark, gives the image a much more dynamic look which can really make your aerial image pop.
Just like a human eye, light travelling through the lens can cause distortion, and while our brain corrects for this in real life our editors must correct this in post production.
We are pleased to offer our clients a full array of post production options from our in-house team of professional photographers and video editors. Utilising our in-house team means editing your aerial footage quicker allowing us to handover your files faster then ever.
